Alan Silko is the founding partner of Silko & Associates, P.C., and has had a  very active practice as a civil litigation trial attorney, as corporate counsel for many small to mid-sized corporations, as an insurance coverage and defense counsel, and also representing select injured plaintiffs. Mr. Silko’s practice has been focused entirely on providing guidance to his clients on how to effectively and efficiently resolve and avoid disputes, or when necessary to be a vigorous advocate in litigating those disputes through all phases of litigation, including trial.  He has built an outstanding representation among his peers as a fierce, honest, and compassionate advocate for his clients, and as a lawyer who always makes himself available to his clients to ensure not only that they are receiving the best possible advice and counsel, but also that they have a very clear understanding of the issues, the processes, and the strategies for handling their important legal matters. Mr. Silko has achieved the highest possible ratings ( AV Preeminent and 5 out of 5) from his lawyer peers and from his clients through the Martindale-Hubbel rating service, which is a testament to his ability to treat others with respect and courtesy, and his willingness to bring about fair and prompt resolutions for his clients.  He is frequently consulted and retained by other lawyers to assist with challenging or complex litigation and insurance issues.

For more than 35 years, Mr. Silko has advised small to mid-sized corporations on commercial and business matters, and also has handled countless complex multi-million dollar personal injury cases, including cases involving motor vehicle accidents, construction accidents, toxic torts, products liability claims, and property damage claims.  He has also handled complex insurance coverage matters and insurance bad faith claims related to commercial and personal lines and employment practices policies.  Additionally, for his entire career, Mr. Silko has actively engaged in representing both employers and employees by providing advice and representation in matters including termination, severance, non-compete issues, statutory compliance, and litigation.  Mr. Silko has been an active trial lawyer for more than 35 years, and has tried numerous cases to verdict in Courts throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in both the State and Federal Courts.  He is well respected for his ability to handle all aspects of litigation, and particularly his ability to handle complex matters in an effective and efficient manner.

Mr. Silko was born and raised in Monessen, Pennsylvania. He attributes his work ethic to the examples set by his Italian and Hungarian immigrant grandparents, who endured many hardships without complaining, and by loving parents, who devoted their lives to raising their families to achieve a higher standard of living. At all times, Mr. Silko remains grateful for the sacrifices that others have made for him, and he likes to remind his clients to do so as well. Staying grounded in the values instilled by his faith, his family and many close friends, Mr. Silko is a lawyer and person in whom others feel very comfortable in placing their trust and confidence.

Mr. Silko attended the Pennsylvania State University, Saint Vincent College (B.S – Accounting) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (J.D. – 1986). He participated in and coached athletics for his entire life.  In addition to the countless hours of work, he devoted many hours coaching and running the youth travel basketball program in South Fayette Township. Through coaching, he had the opportunity to help young players develop the same kind of solid work ethic, sportsmanship, and ethics that were such an important part of his own upbringing. He now enjoys spending parts of the winter months in the sunshine in Florida (while still working full-time on his busy caseload) with regular visits from the children and grandchildren.

Mr. Silko and his wife (Beth) have enjoyed raising four children (Jessica, Joey, Adam and Tommy).  All four attended the Pennsylvania State University, attended law school following graduation (two at Penn State and two at Duquesne), and now work as attorneys with the firm. Despite his many professional obligations, Mr. Silko is particularly proud that he has always made time to enjoy the company of his family, and enjoys being with and working with them every day.  He is the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, who are a constant source of joy for the whole family.
